The Mia is built around Sedac's BZR action, a different system to the roll-out Epona used in the Emma. Where most sofa beds hide a folded mattress inside that you have to pull out and unfold, the Mia uses the upholstery itself as the sleep surface. Pull the seat forward, the back lays flat, and the channelled upholstered cushioning becomes the bed. One continuous surface, no separate mattress, nothing to wrestle with.

The shape is deliberately simple. No arms, no scrolled details, no skirts. Just a cube of soft upholstery sitting on a small dark plinth base, with two loose scatter cushions for back support when used as a sofa. Channelled stitching runs across the seat and back so the surfaces stay flat when laid out.

If you're choosing between Mia and Emma, this is the difference. Emma is the more sofa-shaped piece with arms and attached cushions, sleeps as flat as a proper bed thanks to the Epona action. Mia is the simpler, cleaner block, no arms, no separate mattress, sleeps directly on the upholstery. Both convert in seconds. Mia is the better choice for tighter spaces and minimalist rooms. Emma for living rooms where the sofa is the centrepiece.

Inside is the BZR action from Sedac, the family of mechanisms we held UK distribution rights for from 1962 to 2020. Engineered in France for daily use rather than occasional guests.

Available in one size, with a choice of two fabrics, Apricot or Koala. The fabric range and sizing are intentionally narrow because the Mia is a fixed-spec product designed to ship faster and at a tighter price than the rest of the sofa bed range.
